FeelSecure FAQ

Is this illegal? /Can I get into trouble for using it? Yes, it's my kid, but do I have the right to use this?

Parents and legal guardians have the right to know where their children are at all times. This is completely supported by the courts and legal system. It is in fact, neglect and abuse, to NOT know where your child is at all times.

You want to know they are sleeping safely in their beds at night and that you took them to school and they are safe in classes with adult teachers and supervision, and so forth. It is your parental legal right to know where and what your child is doing.

As a parent, your priority is to provide for your children, protect them, and help them grow up into responsible adults. We subscribe to open communication, clear and understandable family rules, empowering parents and protecting children with FeelSecure.

Is this invasive to my child's privacy?

Children do have privacy rights, just like adults, although because of their minority status, rights of children are limited. Whether three years old, or 13 or 17, knowing where your child is and what they are doing is a parents number one priority, and your parental legal right.

Children are expected to obey their parents and the legal system supports the parents rights to enforce this (except in instances of parental neglect and abuse). The issue of invading a child's privacy tends to arise in other areas, like with health records or collecting data, and not in parental rights to protect their children.

Will it cause my monthly mobile expenses to increase with the network provider?

Unlimited mobile data plans are great but FeelSecure understands that these are not always available to everyone. This is why, by default, FeelSecure uploads data to your online parental dashboard every 1 hour or after 10 events have been captured (an event is an SMS message, an email, an IM etc.) – whichever happens first which is ideal if your child’s phone is on a prepaid plan or the mobile data plan is not unlimited.

FeelSecure is designed to upload data this way so that if your child is on a monthly data plan that is not unlimited, then FeelSecure will not cause any increase in expense. If however your child takes a lot of pictures or downloads a lot of audio or video files then you must log in to your online parental dashboard to enable the capturing and uploading of this media.

FeelSecure gives you complete control over what you want and do not want to upload from your child’s phone as well as allowing you to control how frequently this occurs which means you have complete control over your child’s mobile expenses.

If you are worried about an increase in mobile expenses then all you need to do is set FeelSecure to upload data to your online parental dashboard less frequently or make sure your child’s phone is permanently connected to a wifi connection instead.

Can my child override or remove this?

Once FeelSecure is installed only you can remove it. Your child can wipe their phone of all data but you'll be notified if that happens. They will not have access to the data already stored in your secured Parental Control Center online, and they will not be able to modify any FeelSecure settings.

Please remember though you will need to have access to your child's phone for the initial installation

If you're unable to do this, you might want to buy your child a new phone to pre-install FeelSecure on it, and then give it as a gift!

  • Can I cap my child's phone usage? (I don't want huge bills!)

FeelSecure gives you complete control of what data gets uploaded from your child’s phone and how often. That means that you can set up FeelSecure using your online parental dashboard to upload data that consumes a small amount of data such as SMS messages or emails more frequently then data that consumes a lot of data such as pictures or video. The choice is up to you.

  • What about my aging parents? Can I use it for them?

FeelSecure is not only for the young, you can use it with the whole family, so long as you are the legal guardian. You can use it if you care for anyone that may have a critical health condition such as Asthma or Alzheimer's, or disabled and lives alone. The GPS system can locate an elderly person who has wandered off and is confused. And the panic button can help is someone has fallen down and is unable to get up to reach the regular phone to call for help. When the panic button is pressed the device will automatically take pictures of its surroundings and upload them to your online parental dashboard so you can immediately know when a family member is in distress and can come to their aid.

Be aware though, your parents are adults and have complete rights to their own privacy. It is a serious offense in most countries to install software onto a phone which you do not own or have proper authorization to install.

  • How much does FeelSecure cost?

We currently have two versions of FeelSecure: Complete and Panic Button. FeelSecure Complete is our all-inclusive program with a monthly subscription cost of $19.99 a month. Panic Button includes our most basic features which turn the smartphone into a full-on alert system during emergencies, with GPS Tracking and Image Capturing, costing just $4.99 a month. Panic Button is available separately or is included with FeelSecure Complete.

  • Can I keep my existing phone and/or service provider?

FeelSecure runs independently from your phone service provider. FeelSecure is installed on your child's phone and is phone specific, not provider specific. FeelSecure is compatible with most smartphones and is currently available for Symbian, Android, Blackberry and iPhone models. Note that each version of FeelSecure may support different platforms - so you'll need to check to see if your phone is supported by the version of FeelSecure you're interested in.

  • Can I put it on the phone without my teenager knowing about it?

In order to install FeelSecure you will need full access physically to your child’s phone first. This includes any and all passwords that may have been set on it. Once you have complete access to their phone you quickly and simply download and install FeelSecure and the FeelSecure icon will be visible.

Because honesty is the best policy it is recommended to speak to your child first about the need to monitor their safety and why FeelSecure is being installed and how it is going to be used. There is no need to hide any icon or anything like that as this is not a spying application.

  • Is FeelSecure something I can tweak to fit my needs, or is it what you see is what you get?

FeelSecure gives you complete control over your child’s phone and complete access to its data. Using the easy to use Control Center inside your online parental dashboard allows you to set FeelSecure to be exactly what you need to effectively monitor your child. For example if your child is on a prepaid mobile plan and you are worried about extra charges then FeelSecure allows you to set what kinds of data is captured and uploaded and how frequently – FeelSecure is all about you and power to the parent.

  • Does my child's phone need to have GPS?

In order to take advantage of our location tracking services (tracking your child on a real-time GPS map) your phone would need to be GPS enabled, although most modern smartphones already are. If your child uses a phone that is not GPS enabled, all other features will still operate.

  • Is it necessary to purchase FeelSecure for my phone in order to monitor my kids' phones?

No. FeelSecure is installed only onto your child's phone. Your subscription provides you with a FeelSecure subscription code. After purchase you'll receive an e-mail confirmation with next steps. You'll need to have access to the Internet as well as your child's phone.

After purchase you simply log in to your online parental dashboard with your child’s phone and follow the easy to understand installation wizard to install FeelSecure onto your child's phone - and that's it. We've made it simple to use and easy to install. After installation you won't need the phone any longer; once installed you can access your account from your online parental dashboard (a private website where you can see all phone data).

  • My child doesn't yet have a phone.

If you're about to give your child their first phone it may well be worth giving them FeelSecure as well. Not only do you get unique features such as Panic (in case they ever have an emergency), you also have useful tools such as viewing where your child’s phone is on a map or the contents of their SMS messages that help you keep your child safe as they step in to the smartphone world for the first time.

Because FeelSecure works on the majority of popular smartphones you don’t need to worry about whether or not certain phones are supported or whether or not certain phones give you certain FeelSecure features. FeelSecure offers a one size fits all child monitoring solution for all smartphones.

  • I'm a busy parent. I don't want my child to feel too abandoned. Will this make him a latch-key kid?

FeelSecure is a solution to parents who feel guilty that they cannot be there for their children. In this busy world its becoming harder and harder to keep tabs on what the people around us are doing — our system allows you to do just what a parents a few generations ago were able to do, have the luxury of watching over our children, making sure they are safe and sound, no matter where they (or you) are.

And a phone is a way for you to communicate with your child when you have to work late. Not only calls, but text and IM works between you and your child.

Our system not only allows you to keep a watchful eye over your child, but keep in contact with them too. And that's definitely not going to make him feel anything like a latch-key kid!

  • Can my child override or remove this?

Once FeelSecure is installed only you can remove it. Your child can wipe their phone of all data but you'll be notified if that happens. They will not have access to the data already stored in your secured Parental Control Center online, and they will not be able to modify any FeelSecure settings.

  • What if my child is in another city or country?

FeelSecure is global application for parents and kids everywhere. If your child is in England and you're in the US, FeelSecure will work just as if they were right upstairs. And no matter where you or your child are physically located, you can always view all phone data in your online Parental Control Center included with your subscription.

  • Please remember though you will need to have access to your child's phone for the initial installation

If you're unable to do this, you might want to buy your child a new phone to pre-install FeelSecure on it, and then give it as a gift!

  • How will this help me and my child? Why should I get this?

We live in a world where our personal lives are more and more accessible to anyone and everyone. We live in a world where our children have much more freedom than ever before. There are class and group outings and social gatherings that happen on a much more frequent basis than 'back in the day'. At the same time, kids don't even need to leave the house to hang out and socialize with friends as they can easily do so online.

For a while we have given our children simple mobile phones - even children as young as six - so they can contact us if they're in trouble or need us. But phones have evolved into smartphones, with the ability to send and receive pictures and texts. Most of the phones our children use, now and in the future, have internet access, SMS, MMS, IM and email. Yes, using a system where you control their access and content - just like you do at home on the computer - is helpful to your child.

This kind of control keeps you informed, keeps you up to date with your child, and gives you the peace of mind you deserve. It's up to you to decide how much control you want or need. FeelSecure gives you the ability to choose how involved you want or need to be.

Child access to email, phone calls, SMS are all privileges but are increasingly becoming a must-have item even for them to socially interact with family and friends. We live in a world where electronic communication is so easy and important. Being able to monitor who your child is in contact with is vital and may just be a life-saver too.

  • Is it easy to remove?
